Psychological Testing provides measurement of human abilities, traits and characteristics. Testing will proving insights to personality characteristics, intelligence and cognitive (e.g., thinking, attention, memory) abilities.
Assessments / Services Offered:
Pre-assessment Interview: In an initial interview a client has the opportunity to describe issues of concern that will become the focus of the evaluation. A testing psychologist will recommend the types of tests that could be used and provide an overview of what to expect in terms of testing, fees, time schedule, and feedback procedures.
Intellectual Evaluation: Assessing intellectual abilities and achievement is more complex than the mere search for an IQ score. It involves formal tests which usually reveal primary features such as: a profile of intellectual strengths and weaknesses, unique learning styles, factors that interfere with learning, and strategies for improving performance with educational or intellectual tasks.
Social-Emotional Evaluation: Assessment in this area includes: how well a person relates with others, self-esteem, communication patterns, level of stress, ways of handling emotions, personality features and temperament as well as an assessment of emotional distress. Assessment methods will include background history, a clinical interview, self-report questionnaires, and projective tests.
Comprehensive Student Assessment: Students' difficulties in learning, behavior, emotions, or peer relationships are more evident through observation of the student in the classroom and interviews with teachers and parents. A diagnostic team from Mélange Health Solutions will conduct a Comprehensive Student Assessment. The assessment would include an on-site observation of the student in the school and classroom, consultation interviews with teachers and parents, educational and psychological testing, a thorough written report with recommendations, and a feedback session for school staff and parents if requested.
Private School Pre-Admissions: Intelligence testing for admission into gifted and talented programs and for private schools. Test include: The Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence for Pre-K through K and the WJC-Woodcock Johnson Cognitive for rising Grades 1-4.
Psycho educational Evaluations: Evaluation for high school students in need of services and accommodations for testing or for their prospective college or university. The evaluations and also help determine if your child has a processing deficit and is in need of extra time on tests such as the SAT.
Risk Assessments:
These assessments evaluate students who have made statements or whose conduct has raised concerns regarding possible violence. Risk assessments include not only the use of clinical interviews, but also behavioral rating scales and objective measures of behavioral, emotional, and personality functioning as indicated by the age of the student.
Learning Disability Assessments
While these assessments are available from local public schools, parents often find that their district has extensive waiting lists. Mélange provides timely and accurate evaluations for learning disabilities, as well as comprehensive, specific recommendations for remediation.
Feedback: After testing, the client sits down with the testing psychologist to receive an explanation of the evaluation, the diagnoses, and the recommendations. The client receives a written report and may request it be shared with specific persons or institutions.

Are the results confidential?
The results of any evaluation are kept confidential and only released with the client/parents’ permission.
However, most insurance policies include a release of your records clause. Your insurance company may share your procedure or diagnosis (captured from the claims submission) with the Medical Information Bureau (MIB) a central database of medical information shared by insurance companies.

Self pay clients are not subject to insurance company reporting.
We will contact the client’s insurance company to determine if coverage is available.
Mélange staff will provide clients with information about psychological testing to submit to their insurance carrier.
In many cases the insurance company requires giving approval prior to psychological testing services.
Reasonable fees are offered for self-pay clients.
