The Impact of Mélange
Case management remains an important component of services provided by Mélange Health Solutions. Successful outcomes are based on trusting and empowering relationships between Mélange case managers and our clients. While case management is often associated with health care, Mélange case managers also work with clients to access supportive services (e.g.: education, employment, housing, child care) to help families accomplish their goals. Mélange has on staff, eleven (11) certified FSS Case Managers that work with client families.

The following success stories illustrate the impact of the Mélange Case Manager-Family
Partnership:

• TC is a single mom with 4 children. TC was laid off from her job this year. Not sure which way to turn, Mélange connected with TC to develop her employment plan and helped her to balance family responsibilities. She was able to find employment within a ten week time frame and also earn her GED this year.

• Ms. M. wanted more self sufficiency having very limited educational credentials. Mélange assessed her needs and provided her linkages to supportive services thereby paving the way for her to earn a BS degree in Criminal Justice and employment in the Sheriff’s Office.

ª Ms. H. is currently employed in the nursing field. Mélange case managers helped Ms. H develop a plan of action and also facilitated her access to resources so she could earn LPN certification. Mélange case managers continue to provide her support as she pursues certification as a registered Nurse (RN)

Mélange Achieves Above Average Scores in Client Satisfaction

Monthly surveys of more than 300 clients in 2009, conducted in person and by telephone, showed Mélange achieved a 90% satisfaction rating regularly across multiple service categories in counseling and care coordination services.

Monthly surveys for the past year have been administered to provide Mélange with ongoing metrics on the effectiveness of its programs via direct client feedback regarding treatment, services received, crisis response, and the client’s recovery.

Melange’s Chief Operating Officer Damon Scott commented on how personal letters by clients and parents are consistent with the survey results. “Receiving these letters continuously reminds my team and me of our mission and how a therapeutic and holistic approach to supporting families can make a tremendous difference in their lives.

However, we wanted to put ourselves under closer scrutiny to ensure our service exceeds expectations across a variety of categories. It is one reason we sought national accreditation and why we continually survey our clients,” says Scott.

Mélange has a rigorous continuous improvement process in place and these surveys are one of the tools used to aid us in delivering a unified effort towards effective client-focused treatment and prevention programs."
